Day 1, or 2, or???

I think you can classify me as an insomniac as I haven't slept for 36 hours... and can't seem to get to bed. I tried, though. But I was woken up and haven't been able to continue sleeping.

I am in Israel, as you can probably guess. The flight was horrific. I'm surprised I made it out of there... We were seated next to both bathrooms. And not before or after the bathrooms, directly across from them! It was an overnight flight, so I thought, or hoped, that most people would be sleeping and not need to use the facilities. Boy, was I wrong! Those doors never shut for 12 grueling hours. Of course there were some repeat offenders. The Pee (and Poo)-dophiles. What really surpised me were how many people were confused with how the whole occupied/not occupied thing worked, and that most couldn't figure out that 'Push' really meant 'Push'. I didn't think you had to have great linguistic knowledge to figure out that Vacant/Libre meant the bathroom was free. I stared at a woman for two minutes that stood outside the bathroom thinking someone was in there. These simple things amused me since I had no chance of falling asleep at all... And the food, well, you know. It is a true testament to the fact that people will eat anything put in front of them, even if it is horrible shite!

Dinner: turkey meatball, tomato-ey sauce with zucchini and potatoes, cardboard salad, olives and pickles, bread roll, unidentified chocolate thing. The bread roll was good.

Breakfast: omelette, potatoes, cardboard tomato and cucumber, muffin, bread roll. The muffin was OK.

So now I got some cravings for food and had a bread roll with Israeli sweet butter. Really really good.

I took some pretty shots off our balcony here. Can't seem to upload them now, so will try in the morning... But it is morning.

It's Wednesday morning, 3:50am. This close to being a Simon & Garfunkel song. These are the things I think about. Need to sleep.
Update: Pics uploaded!

Ilana - How glorious it is that you get to be in Israel. I have wanted to go there for so long but fear I will never get there. I hope you make the most of your time there and really allow yourself to mellow out before asking yourself what you want to do when you return to the US.
